This short film was a special and challenging project for me and my team, as I wanted the film to have an 80’s feeling.
The challenge was to introduce some key elements into the story that would make a drift clip look like a standalone pursuit scene.
Filmed in really low light conditions across multiple camera platforms such as Sony FS700, Canon C300, Panasonic Lumix GH4 and Canon 6D.
Regarding the lighting style of the film, we primarily used a couple of barrels that we set on fire (first scene only), while for the rest of the shots we used fireworks as the main light source.
Each firework lasted for 40 seconds. This meant that we only had 40 seconds to record each take. After every shot, complete darkness was all over the place again.
This made it hard to be on set, as we had to use torches, and sometimes, the vehicles’ headlights.
A project in association with ZFGARAGE.
Music: DONBOR – Smoke
As seen on Speed Hunters.
Here’s what autoblog.gr thought of the film.
